Pan Challenge: Being Conscious with Cosmetic Consumption

Pan Challenge: Being Conscious with Cosmetic Consumption

Have you ever heard the term "hitting pan" on a product? A term that I believe started in the makeup community when you use something so much that your brush actually hits the "pan".

A new challenge around this has been circulating: where you do not buy another product until you hit "pan" (essentially run out) of the last one. Sounds simple doesn't it? But think about how many moisturizers you own or perfume bottles or lip glosses (gotchu on that one for sure)! Think about how many times you wanted to try something new so you got rid of the old before it was used up.

The beauty, skincare, and haircare industries need just as much focus on sustainability as fashion. This is a way you can start contributing and actually change your habits along the way.

I thought this was a perfect time for me to start the pan challenge as I study abroad and travel with only what I need. Yes I have about four lip sticks in my bag, and sue me if I buy an Italian perfume. It's not about perfection. It's about making a conscious change (and saving money along the way to use on real life experiences).

I look forward to sharing more updates about this! I invite to to join the challenge!
